Engage your kids in drawing activity and give them first time user experience with the PC easily.
Crayens is the first desktop painting program made solely for young kids (2+). It has a toddler-oriented usability: instead of a mouse pointer, you get a huge crayon. Instead of a color palate, you simply tap the keyboard to change colors. As long as your kid doesn't spill his orange juice on the keyboard, it's loads of fun. Most important, Crayens keeps your other programs and documents out of the reach of your young artist, by blocking the exit when in use. Your computer is safe.
instead of making a mess with his crayons, he just uses the computer and paints. Works for me.

Summary
Matt, my 3 year old son has been recently nagging me about him wanted to draw with the computer like his older brother. I have tried letting him use the Windows Paint and Tux, but he tended to close the programs and started messing up the desktop.
I've looked for a painter that is "kid safe" and stumbled upon Crayens which is basically a "paper and crayons". It seemed to me too simplistic to me, but after letting Matt use it for a little while I understood the ingenuity of it:
1.Because the Crayens painter blocks the exit when it is on. I can leave matt by my computer and not worry about him exiting and getting to other programs.
2.Clicking on any keyboard-key changes the crayon color, so even Matt can handle color change.
3.Instead of using a tine arrow as a cursor, there is a very big crayon image, so it is very understandable for a toddler.
For conclusion, I would never give this program to a teenager or even an 8 year old. But this painter is really tailored beautifully for very young kids. Judging by its purpose, I give it thumbs up!
PS. I would love to have the possibility to publish Matt's doodles on Facebook for my family to see. Its not masterpieces but its the closest thing to a "fridge door" these days.
