Copy paths of Finder items to clipboard via contextual menu.
This service will be available in Finder's Services menu and contextual menu if files and/or folders are selected. It enables you to copy the POSIX path of one or more Finder items to the clipboard. __________________
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I don't know about you, but I always find myself needing to copy a path to a folder or file and, until now, have not had a good option on the Mac, as I was too lazy to write my own script to do this.
Today, I found the CopyPaths Service and gave it a try. It works, and led me to try some of Rosanne Cashriel's other services. I ended up downloading and trying three others, which I will review soon.
There's not much to say about this one, other than a right click on any file or folder in Finder and going to Services -> Copy Paths puts the whole path onto your clipboard for whatever purpose you need it for. Occasionally, for some reason, it takes two times to get the path into the clipboard. I don't know why, but it always works the second time.
Also, there is one discrepancy I found in the installation instructions: where Ms. Cashriel states you should copy the file to /Library/Services, the correct path to the folder is: /System/Library/Services/ .
BTW, I just used this Copy Paths service to post the path correction above!
Thanks for making this available for free. I donated a little because I think it's worth it.
