CMYK Mix Color scheme designer, by Igor Sazonov, is an Android utility for calculating CMYK proportions and visualizing subtractive color mixing across print and paint workflows. The app simulates Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow interactions and provides proportional analysis, palette saving, and a companion camera workflow for real-world sampling. Educational panels explain the mechanics of CMYK printing. Graphic designers, art students, and print professionals get a focused tool for translating digital values into physical mixes.

CMYK Mix models subtractive mixing so users see how Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow combine on a white surface. The interface exposes precise proportions and a sequential mixing mode for layering experiments. A compact feature list shows what you can do:

The app converts CMYK inputs into paint-ready ratios

  • CMYK mixing simulation to preview results
  • Proportional analysis for exact pigment ratios
  • Palette management to store custom schemes
These elements target practical color matching rather than hex-code lookup.

Designed for mobile hardware, compatible with older Android devices

The app targets Android 7.0 and higher, with some builds optimized for Android 9.0, and is described as lightweight with a straightforward layout. That combination makes it suitable for tablets and phones used in studio or on-site sampling, avoiding the heavyweight requirements of professional suites. The mobile-first design supports quick checks during production without moving to a desktop application.

Camera capture works through a companion app and shapes the workflow

Real-world color sampling relies on integration with the companion 'CMYK RGB Camera Color' application, so live samples enter the mixing workflow rather than being manually typed. Expect a camera-driven capture step when sampling pigments or printed proofs; the linked workflow helps translate photographed colors into CMYK proportions for further tweaking within the app.

Accessible for learners yet useful to print professionals

The educational interface explains why three inks produce full-color prints, which helps students and nontechnical artists understand results. At the same time, print professionals get numeric ratios they can use in mixing. The app's focused scope reduces the learning curve found in larger design suites, making it practical for classroom demos, shop-side checks, and quick studio trials.

  • Pros

    • CMYK mixing simulation models subtractive pigment interaction
    • Proportional analysis provides exact Cyan/Magenta/Yellow ratios
    • Integrates with a companion camera app for real-world sampling
    • Educational explanations clarify CMYK printing principles
  • Cons

    • Not a substitute for lab-grade color-matching hardware
    • Workflows require the companion camera app for sampling
    • Focused on CMYK, lacks emphasis on RGB or hex conversion

Bottom Line

A practical, focused tool for people translating color between screens and materials

CMYK Mix is a practical option for designers, students, and print technicians who need numeric CMYK ratios and a hands-on mixing workflow; it is not a replacement for lab-grade spectrophotometry or full desktop color-management systems. For best results, capture target colors under neutral daylight and test small swatches on white stock before scaling mixes. Recommended.

Developer’s Description

This app is designed for those who need to quickly choose the desired color from the colors that are available.

This app is designed for those who need to quickly choose the desired color from the colors that are available. You can get the color of an object using your phones camera in our other "CMYK RGB Camera Color" app. The program is intuitive and allows you to get first on the screen the desired color before mixing real paint. It will be clear to the user what colors and in what proportion will be required for the result. Can be obtained separately, first one color, then another and finally another and mix them together.

This application is based on view model CMYK color and clearly explains:

1. As with just three basic colors - C (Cyan), M (Magenta) and Y (Yellow) mix them you can create any other color on a white surface.

2. What color do you get if you mix the two previously obtained by mixing colors.

3. What combination of primary colors needed to obtain all seven colors of the rainbow.

The application will help not only in the selection color in painting, but also give a clear explanation of why when printing color photo on a white surface, it is sufficient to use only dots of Cyan, Magenta and Yellow (with a sufficient increase in the printed color image shows that the image consists of color dots of three colors). For create a contrast image adds black paint.

P. S. You can get the color of an object using your phones camera in our other "CMYK RGB Camera Color" app.
