Aimed at computer musicians, this software turns a PC's keyboard into a piano-like MIDI keyboard, mapping letter keys onto notes. This allows a laptop composer to play keyboard-style music, which can be useful if no genuine keyboard is accessible. However, the program's features are sharply limited. Click MusicalKeys includes 128 MIDI instruments, mostly of fairly low quality. It does not allow users to choose another synthesizer for output, limiting its use with other, more advanced music programs. The recording function can play back single notes, but is buggy when chords are played. Nor does it recognize note duration, recording instead only the sequence of the notes. As a simple MIDI instrument for novice computer musicians, this program can be fun to experiment with. However, better programs for mapping a computer keyboard onto MIDI output are out there, and for an aspiring musician, this is certainly no substitute for an actual piano-style keyboard.

I downloaded this freeware today on my Windows 8 laptop and it works perfectly. The keys are snappy, I could even get a dialog with numerous voices. In my opinion this is the easiest composition software out there and you guys will love it.

Cons
Horizontal scroll bar, round buttons below keyboard including help button are missing. Minimize and Close buttons in top right corner do not work. I must use Task Manager to close the program.

Worked fine in Windows 7. Unusable in Windows 8, as far as I know.

Pros
I am new to virtual keyboards. I wanted something basic I could learn and record with. Musical keys does what I need it to do. If you are just getting into creating music and learning, I would highly suggest Musical Keys.
Cons
If you are beyond the beginner stage, I would not suggest this.

It has 120 instruments available (especially lots of different variations of guitars) so it would be great for anyone wanting to know what specific instruments sound like or for pitch matching.
Cons
You download a ZIP file, there is a 1 setup file in the ZIP. So why isn't it just 1 setup file?
