This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is the absolute best DVD extraction program and I have tried them all. There are other good programs also - but Cinematize allows for Professional Options and works flawlessly. In addition the developer is very responsive.
If you have DVD's and want to extract footage for say Final Cut or DVD Studio Pro, or simply want a way to go from DVD file to iPod Movie - Cinematize is the best! You can also easily get audio tracks from the DVD files at full quality! Excellent all around. 5 Stars!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've used Cinematize 1.x for some time and quickly purchased the update to 2.0. Although I've only had time to test out the new version, this is a big improvement in being able to customize your video extraction from nonprotected DVDs. The interface is much improved plus it allows extraction from specific frames rather than just entire chapters. I believe the improvements in this version justify charging an upgrade fee. It's too soon for me to have encountered any bugs or deficiencies in this new version.
Problems with motion artifacting

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was really excited when I first got Cinematize. I started ripping old dvds of my work and compiling them so I could edit them in final cut. Then I started noticing that Cinematize introduces motion artifacts. It appears as a kind of banding effect when there is quick left to right motion. For my work, this is NOT acceptable. Here's hoping there's a fix on the way. I don't think it's qtmpeg, because this appears on screen whether I import .mov's or .dv versions of the files into Final cut. Intersetingly, DVDStudio pro 2.0 would not accept the .mov versions of the files which puzzled me greatly, but it would accept the .dv versions of the files.
I have just looked at the Miraizon home page and they describe this problem, blaming it on Apple qt-mpeg2. I wish they had told me about this before I spend the extra flippin $20 on the qt-mpeg decoder. I'll let you know if Diva solves the problem.
And while we're at it the documentation is sparse but adequate. The speed is impressive as is the ease of use. The problem is that this is not a standalone application. You really need the mpeg-2 component of quick time to do anything serious, or anything basic for that matter.
Also, the preview time is just barely adequate at 30 seconds.
This needs more development. I'd said it's not quite ready for prime time, though it's close.
I stand corrected

They did send it, and the even re-sent it quickly when I emailed tech support for it. Also, the app is very well done. The others' reviews seem to be right on, at least as far as I can tell.

Only one little suggestion: why do not let to choose the codec for the QT export?
Each segment exported must be rendered in FCP, it is a quick matter but it could be avoid exporting directly in DV PAL or NTCS.
an incredible app that is saving my life!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have used this app for 2-3 weeks now and it's an incredibly powerful tool. I am currently creating a presentation and this app has literally saved me! The customer support is top notch. They took their time explaining to me how to do what I needed and walked me through the necessary steps. Customer service actually providing service? Unheard of!
I am looking forward to future updates to this program and I can honestly say it's the best $50.00 bucks I have ever paid for software. I could never have done this presentation without it!
