Cartoon Network is one of the best TV-brand specific apps on the App Store to date, with built-in screening and gaming options, a clever design, and a very child-friendly interface. It loads fast, features dozens of full episodes for all of its most popular shows, and over a half-dozen games that are in most cases quite good. This is more than just an augmentation of the TV network -- it is a standalone experience that your child will greatly enjoy.

When you start the app, you can choose between games or videos. Turn the device to the left and the videos will load. Turn the device to the right and games will load. This sets the tone for the entire app as it skews expectations and delivers content in clever, fun ways that other app developers haven't even considered. The show library loads almost instantly with numerous options and full episodes, including some of the most recent episodes of popular shows from a full swath of options. The games are well made and feature Cartoon Network favorites like Gumball and Adventure Time. While not award-caliber iOS games, these aren't vaporware either -- children will have legitimate fun here.

If your child is asking to install this app on their phone, it's a good bet. This is a well-made, easy-to-use, and content-rich Cartoon Network experience that is fun, lacks the sort of ad overload that other network apps have, and goes beyond basic show information to provide a more robust experience as a whole.

What’s new in version 3.6

Chromecast! Yes, we've added one of the most requested features: the ability to stream Cartoon Network episodes from the app directly to your TV using Chromecast. Just plug in your Chromecast media streaming device, open the Cartoon Network app on your phone or tablet, and then tap the Cast button to see your favorite shows on the big screen.

We've also added iMessage stickers! Make all your messages more fun with stickers featuring your favorite Cartoon Network characters.
