- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is so close to being perfect; you can control iTunes using buttons in the menu and also keyboard shortcuts. It's quicker than Synergy when switching tracks, which I find, is Synergy's only downfall (apart from not being free). The only thing I miss from Synergy is the tooltip of what track currently playing - you can hover over the play/pause button and a yellow box will show. If the developer added this feature then ByteController would be perfect. Still, highly recommended little app. If you want something that isn't bloated and sluggish like Synergy, download this.
God wouldn't have made much better...

Runs ony when iTunes does, if preferred, and some cool skinsâ?¦but by far the best feature is the programmable key commands! It is great to set up something like Apple-Space for pausing from ANY app! If you need an iTunes remote, I have no idea what else you could ask for!

In the Readme the author notes that he wants to "improve performance and memory use," on my G4/867 1.5GB RAM ByteController never uses more than 1% of the processor but does use about 21MB of real RAM and 223 of virtual RAM. This is a good application to have, and the author notes that he plans to continue to add new features like better skin support, a wake up alarm, and the ability to control iTunes on a different computer.
