Bosco's Screen Share is a free, easy way to share your computer's desktop with your friends. Bosco's Screen Share runs on Mac OS X, Mac OS Classic, and Windows, allowing you to share desktops regardless of platform choice. Bosco's Screen Share uses a peer-to-peer, serverless protocol and leverages standards such as JPEG image compression and TCP/IP, ensuring excellent performance with minimal interruptions. Bosco's Screen Share also works with Personal Web Sharing so your friends can watch your screen in their web browsers.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm helping a non-techy friend with her new iMac G5/video, and despite the Mac being far easier to use compared to her old Windows ME box, there's also a lot more options to deal with and stuff to learn.
After trying unsuccessfully to set up Apple Remote Desktop's VNC option through the router, I found this gem. I haven't had a chance to go back and install/test on her iMac, but it's worked between my work and home computers... and it's far, far superior. Doesn't take up the entire screen (resizable, scaled image). Allows you to take control of another person's screen to demonstrate something (which will come in very handy).
The one thing I might improve on is additional security; right now if it's set to ask you permission before you allow your screen to be watched, it only shows the remote user's name and email. This is trivially simple for someone to copy and then masquerade as them when trying to connect to you. There's a password option, true, but it's mutually exclusive to the "ask permission" option.
Documentation for setting up the router was well presented and easy to follow. The "Expert" mode that removes the inline help text is a nice touch and improvement (IMHO) over the "hover for help" that most programs seem to use.
Best of all, it's free! Okay, "sponsored", but it's merely an unobtrusive text link at the bottom of the main window.
Valuable software

I used it for several month in assisting my son and sister-in-law when using there iMac G5 machines. With a regular broadband connection + iChat (or Skype) it is possible to help them and even take over control of there mouse and keyboard if neccesary.
This app is a MUST for everybody with a lack of computer experience, of course besides this app there is always someone needed who is willing to assist.
Thanks Brad for sharing your app with us. Wim.
The absolute BEST bar none!!
