While it excels at finding duplicate files, this freeware Firefox add-on isn't so good at getting rid of them. BookMark Duplicate Detector's simple interface is merely a list and a pair of buttons. This add-on is easily operated by users of any skill level.
BookMark Duplicate Detector shines when searching. It's almost instantaneous even with large bookmark folders. Options to automatically delete duplicates are easy to set and accurate. However, deleting found duplicates through the interface suffers from too many steps and too few options. Deleting a bookmark means selecting it, selecting the folder holding the bookmark you want to delete, then pressing Remove, and finally pressing OK. The app helpfully checks new bookmarks to warn users if they are already in a folder.
There is no method to select multiple bookmarks to delete at once, automatically delete the second instance, or any other common function in this genre. Problems aside, BookMark Duplicate Detector does help novice users find and slowly delete unneeded bookmarks. The price is right and the app does perform well in automatic delete mode.
Detects duplicate bookmarks when bookmarks are added and specify where is the previous URL. You can also search and delete duplicates URL already in your bookmarks.
