• Works in Theory but . . .

  Summary

  This is a seriously awful program created by an amateur programmer--here's the story. I first came to the website because I was looking for someone to format about 40 book covers for LightningSource. Her price seemed reasonable, but she wouldn't format the covers without me buying the software first--so I did. I paid up front for her to convert the first cover as a trial run, and that was the last I heard from her until despite repeated emails, until I registered a complaint with PayPal--then I heard from her almost immediately. She was full of apologies and begged me to withdraw the complaint saying she would get it to me immediately. After a few weeks, I got the file, but it wouldn't pass LightningSource's review. I emailed her asking for my money back, and this time she was pretty surly and told me this was just a part time gig for her, and she didn't really have the time. I found someone who knew what he was doing to format the covers, and I was using BookCoverPro to assemble the cover--but. . . it has died on me twice in a few months. Even if it was possible to use the program, it is clunky and badly designed--not even worth the $60. Bottom line: I lost the money for the program and the money I paid for conversion, and, much worse, I have lost valuable time and revenue. Don't waste you time or money.

• Liked program, but NO customer support. Never got CD.

  Program does what it says and the website customer logon and down loads work well, but ....

  Cons

  CUSTOMER SUPPORT - I paid for the CD and never received it. They have my correct address. After repeated contacts and over six weeks I still have no CD and no, I REPEAT, no contact with a live person. I have emailed and phoned. No one cares.

  Summary

  For the price one should expect and receive everything paid for, including customer support. I have purchased many programs over the internet and never had a company ignor me as a customer, except for the "staff" at BookCoverPro.So I and you, if you buy this program, are on our own. Not a good feeling for the price. Even though I like the program, I recommend that you buy something else. I am not an insolated case with their lack of customer support. Check the web. I wish I had before spending over two-hundred dollars.

  Pros

  This is a GOOD program. I don't understand the negative reviews! Very intuitive, definitely USER FRIENDLY.You can pay hundreds to have someone else design your covers...or $166. (if you mention FACEBOOK) and create spectacular covers all by yourself.

  Cons

  It would be nice is they incorporated the Lightning Source Template...generated by LS...into their program. And it would be nice if it was a little less expensive.

  Summary

  Great Program...Highly recommended Get the Deluxe Version....more bang for your buck.

• Not at all impressed with the trial

  I imagine that given a decent trial of it, it may be impressive.

  It may seem impressive but how are we to know with 2 pretty drab templates to play with? I'm sorry but I'm not paying $200 on the chance that it "might" do what it says on the box.

  $200..? How many books are people going to write to make that up? Fair enough if you're a professional book cover designer I can see the worth. But this is advertised as saving the likes of me money on my book cover design. there are lots of people out there will do me just as good a cover for less. So BCP - tell it like it is and advertise it as a program for professional book-cover designers. And give us a little more to look at in the trial !! Blocks everywhere a waste of download time. 2/10 from me.

  Impressive presentation.

  Cons

  The program is very sloppy. Although the presentation is generally very nice, it is not newbie friendly, and is very shorthanded. Avoid it if you don't have the time to learn it.
