- Have tried to download several times, and the install cannot find its own msi file, even though it is where it is supposed to be. Also my computer cpu runs too much for the program to run, even when it would install.

- I downloaded the program thinking I was helping a good cause. When the computer was restarted after loading the program Windows XP wouldn't load. I keep getting a blue screen error message. I tried to get help from the BOINC site from another computer but there was nothing there that would help me out.
cnet TechTracker multi-update download from scan error!

- downloaded TechTracker from c-net, performed scan, and instructed the program to download the multiple updates applicable to the software on my computer. As each tried to open and install, error box pops up with : "installer GUI will not initialize"

- can't use any of these updates until this issue is resolved

- I like the messages that would come out as the program was running. In this version, they removed the option and only have certain things coming out in the messages.

- It feels great to participate in philanthropic causes, and BOINC allows you to do this with ease. You can set the amount of CPU, memory and disk space it uses and network usage too. Some projects have a nice screensaver too.
- Cons
- If not set properly, it can bring your system to its knees, so it requires some care in the installation process. Also, it doesn't warn you if your project has gone offline.
- Summary
- Take part in altruistic causes and it's free! I particularly like the SETI project. Great for scientists, IT enthusiasts and curious people alike.
