Used Blur: protect your passwords, payments and privacy for iOS?
Editors’ Review
Formerly known as DoNotTrackMe, Blur is a service for managing your passwords and protecting your privacy. Available as a mobile app or desktop browser plug-in, Blur Premium can protect your passwords and payment info, mask your email and phone numbers, and let you surf over a private browser that blocks trackers.
Pros
Secure password storage: Under Settings, click Logins & Passwords and enter your domain, email, username, and password, and Blur will save your sensitive data using AES-256 encryption. You can scroll, search, and sort these entries by name, date created, last used, and last modified.
Autofill: Blur's autofill feature lets you log in to websites and apps with a quick click. It worked seamlessly in our testing.
Blur Private Browser: Are you being followed online? In Blur's browser, enter a website, then click the blue icon at top right to see a list of all the advertising and analytics trackers that Blur's currently blocking. You can also clear or disable your browsing history, if that's important to you.
Strong password and mask generator: Blur generates very secure masked emails and passwords -- the encrypted messages don't spell out any words, and the passwords include letters, numbers, and special characters. Messages link to your actual email address while ensuring that your actual email address stays out of the hands of advertisers and marketers.
Single-use credit cards: We loved that we could enter credit card numbers and link them to masked card numbers that we could use repeatedly or deactivate after a single use. With this feature, you'll worry less about identity theft and erroneous charges.
Syncing: You can sync all your sensitive data across your phone, tablet, and laptop (via browser plug-ins).
Touch ID: You can log in via Touch ID or password.
Great intro: An informative intro helps you get started. This is particularly helpful if you're new to password managers.
Extra tips: Under Tracking, Blur provides tips on disabling iPhone Location Services, iPhone Ad Tracking, and Background App Refresh.
Cons
No scanning: It would be nice to be able to scan credit cards for secure storage, rather than having to input all the information.
Masked phones: When using a free trial of Blur, clicking Masked Phones gave us only a request to subscribe to Premium.
Expensive: Blur Premium includes many great features, but the annual price of $39.99 to $79.99 for full access is pricier than competing password managers.
Bottom Line
Blur is a unique password manager with excellent masking features. We just wish it cost a bit less.
