Bleep Test - UK Police, developed by Ruval Enterprises, is an Android app that simulates the 15-meter Multi-Stage Fitness Test used in UK police recruitment and specialist selection. The app plays standardized audio beeps, shows shuttle and level timers, and provides a VO2 Max estimate so candidates can judge cardiovascular readiness. Calibrated to the 15-meter pitch with specialist-role benchmarks and no advertising or data tracking, it targets recruits and serving officers preparing for police fitness assessment.

The app is calibrated for the 15-meter Multi-Stage Fitness Test and uses timed audio bleep prompts to reproduce the pacing of official runs. Users can choose alternate ringtones for the cues, and an autostop feature halts the session when the participant cannot keep pace. Because the tool relies on audio timing rather than GPS, it expects a pre-measured 15-meter running surface and functioning device audio.

How closely does it replicate the official MSFT?

How does it report fitness performance during a run?

The app displays a real-time countdown for the current shuttle and time to the next level, and it tracks total shuttles, meters covered, and elapsed time. VO2 Max estimation is produced after a test based on performance, giving a physiological reference rather than a medical measurement. These live metrics present immediate feedback useful for single-session assessment and pacing practice.

Is it suitable for recruits and specialist-role candidates?

The tool is aimed at UK police recruits, serving officers, and applicants for specialist roles. It includes a comparison feature that maps results to benchmarks for 13 specialist roles, with examples such as Armed Fitness Officers, Dog Handlers, Police Cyclists, and ARV officers. That role-specific comparison helps candidates see whether a single-session performance meets particular selection standards.

What practical constraints should trainees expect?

The app is lightweight, requests no special permissions, and does not use GPS, which reduces setup friction on Android devices. It also avoids advertising and data tracking, supporting a focused test environment. The default installation does not store a historical results log, so users are advised to capture screenshots if they need records; the developer offers an upgraded release that adds result saving and group-testing features.

  • Pros

    • Calibrated specifically for the 15-meter MSFT used in UK police testing
    • No advertising or data tracking, supporting a private practice session
    • Real-time shuttle timers, distance tracking, and VO2 Max estimation
    • Includes benchmark comparisons for 13 specialist police roles
  • Cons

    • Default installation does not save a history of test results
    • Requires audible output, limiting use in quiet environments
    • Not GPS-based, so it needs a pre-measured 15-meter pitch

Bottom Line

A focused choice for individuals preparing timed shuttle runs

Bleep Test is a practical option for recruits and officers who need a concise, test-focused training aid rather than a full analytics platform. Its simple timing and benchmarking emphasize accurate rehearsal of the MSFT, making it suited to solo practice and short coaching sessions. Trainees who require long-term recordkeeping or coach-facing group reports should plan to export results manually or use the developer's upgraded release for saved histories.
