• Great ideas, can't wait for updates

  Pros

  The tagging system, once refined a bit, could change the way we categorize digital music. Up until now, it was all about cumbersome iTunes workarounds. Syncing certain tracks to Beatport's library saves a lot of time. (If those tracks are sold by Beatport, that is.)

  Cons

  Searching: the way it currently works, you can really only find one track at a time. (That track pops up beneath the search window, and you click on it.) You can't just narrow down your tracks to search for all that contain "Frankie Knuckles" in either the artist or tile field. Filtering: To be honest, i don't even understand how this is supposed to be useful. It's missing the ability to add an "matches this-and-that / matches this-or-that" type selection. (Think of how smart playlists work in iTunes- you can specify "matches all criteria, or matches any criteria." To me, this seems super cumbersome so far, and I never use it. Only works for Beatport tracks: and not even all of them. There are certain releases that I've purchased elsewhere, where when I click "sync with Beatport," one track on that release will be available, but not other tracks on that same release. Also, not much customizability of how the info is written to the tracks.

  Summary

  This software came as a big surprise, and a pleasant one. There's definitely a need for a master preparation environment for DJ tracks (any serious digital DJ will tell you about the hassle created by bouncing from iTunes, to Mixed in Key, to Traktor.) That said, it's got a few major releases to go before really being the savior of the DJ.
