Basilisk is a free adventure game for the Super Nintendo, casting you as a medieval knight investigating a famine. The gameplay evokes old-school Doom, but the story, sadly, ends before it really begins.

  • Pros

    • Authentic 16-bit graphics offer a dose of nostalgia | Small file size is easy to download and store | Intriguing backstory and overall game concept | Abandoned setting and spooky vibes

  • Cons

    • Requires an emulator to even launch the ROM | Graphics are dated, even for an SNES game | Story ends abruptly; offers no real resolution | Premise devolves into a walking simulator | The unfinished nature feels like a cruel tease
