AVI-Mux GUI creates new audio and video files from multiple existing audio and video files.

This program has a minimal interface with no supporting drop-down windows or other helpful controls. The top window instructs you to open files via dragging and dropping them into it, so we tried this with two MP3 files and were able to transfer them with no problems. Clicking the Start button at the bottom of the interface prompts the program to create the new file. The program's default format for saving files is the AVI file type, but when our test file finished, AVI-Mux would only save the file in the MKV format. Once our new file was created, we couldn't figure out how to play it. We couldn't tell if this application is designed only to create audio and video files and lacks a playback option. There's no Help file associated with it, only a rich-text file that testily told us to read the manual before asking any questions. It took some digging to find the manual, which is available on the publisher's Web site, but we couldn't make much sense of it. Perhaps the manual would be helpful to video professionals and other experienced users.

AVI-Mux GUI is free. Our overall experience with this program was disappointing and frustrating. The program is not easy to use and makes the otherwise enjoyable experience of tinkering with audio and video unpleasant and unfulfilling. For most users, it's not the best choice.

Easy to use, does the job

Pros
This smart little utility takes .avi (and many other types of video and audio) and "mind melds" them into one file. It's particularly useful if you want to make sure that the video and audio actually track together
Cons
nothing - it's a great little program - I never had any issues with it. Ok, it's slow - but I'd rather have it be slow, and do a good job, than race through, and still end up with discs that are a second or two off on the audio/video tracking.
Summary
Very basic, very easy to use, just basic point and click. All you have to do is remember to rename your files, and remember where you put the new one! Easy!

Pros
I like to see programmes that help with combining subtitles with the video files into one, but could not use it.
Cons
Definitely there should be more languages supported in this programme. Maybe I would not cobmine my srt file with my avi movie because the language of the test in srt is not supported.

Simple to use software that does the job

Pros
I needed software to strip out multiple audio streams from AVI video files. Googling suggested this software. It did the job perfectly. The program runs with no installation required and has a clear interface.
Cons
A preview function so that I could isolate which audio streams I'm disabling when they aren't labelled with a country code in the file would be good.
Summary
For the purpose I required this software for, (isolating multiple audio streams in AVI files), it's absolutely perfect and well recommended.
Mediocre Application with little useful function

Pros
No need to install, runs directly from download folder. Gui is very, very very simple. These are both good and bad on each of these things.No spyware, adware (Not large enough of app. to facilitate it)
Cons
Anything above Windows XP (almost all machines anymore) requires you to use the "Administrative property" tab to make the application "Windows XP SE" compatible.
Summary
Not the best application. Too little function. More hassle than effective tool. AVI de-muxer has significantly more functions including muxing itself. Download only if you want to make your own review.
Window resize problems

This program has problems with large fonts. It displays windows that are not resizable and when host system is set to use large fonts, right-bottom of settings window can not be seen.
Summary
Software that plays with Windows's settings of borders, frames, captions etc. are always causing problems with screen layout. Windows is not something like Sinclair or Amiga, programmers should avoid playing with system metrics.
