AutoHideDesktopIcons for Windows

If you like to use fun or attractive images as your desktop wallpaper but hate the way they look when they're cluttered with desktop icons, try AutoHideDesktopIcons. This simple utility easily displays your desktop icons when needed and keeps them hidden the rest of the time.

AutoHideDesktopIcons minimizes to the system tray when not in use, and clicking its icon brings up a simple interface with a series of check boxes and radio buttons. Users can specify whether they want the program to start with Windows, always start minimized, always be on top, or to hide the taskbar; this is also where you can easily disable AutoHideDesktopIcons if needed.

You can also specify whether you want to use the left, middle, or right mouse button to display the desktop icons. A timer lets users set a length of time between 3 and 100 seconds to display the desktop icons before hiding them again. We configured the program as we wanted and our desktop icons disappeared; clicking on the desktop, as we'd specified, displayed the icons for 30 seconds before they disappeared again.

AutoHideDesktopIcons doesn't have any documentation or other features, but for what it is, it works just fine. We think it's a great choice if you prefer the look of an uncluttered desktop but still want easy access to your favorite files and programs.
