  Does a nice job. FYI Since AGK is actually a sort of GUI which uses other software i.e. lame and virtualdub to do the actual conversions there is a progress bar for each stage (audio, video pass 1, video pass 2) but you have to open them from your task bar manually.

  Has not been updated with the latest versions of the conversion software in years

• My resulting video has no sound

  I don't understand why I seem to be the only one that had trouble with this SW, since I am not computer illiterate, but my resulting video ended up mute. I converted DVD into AVI. There's only one audio track listed in the audio window and no apparent way to search for other audio tracks, so - the only audio track that the SW found is the one that I used, but again - my resulting video is mute.

  Easy to use conversion utility. I suppose I haven't used enough of these to be able to judge the speed of it (others said it was slow), but it worked quickly enough for my use. I just let the batch run while I was away. This was the only free utility I could find that would convert video straight off a DVD.

  I'd recorded a number of ATSC TV over the air with my DVD recorder and wanted to burn a handful of the programs to DVD-Rs for permanent storage. Unfortunately, none of the standard DVD burning software accepts .vob files. I needed to convert the files to a different format, such as mpeg2 or avi. Three other free programs from cnet didn't work but this one worked without a hitch, converting.vob files to avi. No loss of quality that I could see or hear. It took roughly an hour per hour of program of LP quality, though, to convert, with a dual 4200+ processor and both running at 90+%. One nice thing, though, that offsets that is one can set up a bunch of files to convert, so I was able to set up ten files to convert and let them go overnight. They were ready the next morning. The program hadn't crashed.

• Good for conversion of DVB streams

  First tool I saw that can convert MPEGs from DVB streams into a format that can be further processed for DVD production

  Maybe a time estimate should be included. It takes quite long - I guess normally at least the time of the source

  Summary

  I converted just one video file with it and it seems work. Although I set the output quality to just 40% (I just wanted to check if it suits my needs in general), the output file is small and of excellent quality - didn't see losses compared to the source. Keeps the aspect ratio.

  Wow.....this converted a 7 GB DVD movie to a 698 MB single CD .avi file.....amazing....it has the ability to convert some other formats as well...<p>On a 256 MB ram running Bit Defender IS it took 11 hours..49 minutes and 54 seconds to rip a 7 GB DVD to a 698 MB avi file...but that's worth the wait...u can start it at night and when u wake up...it's done!!<p>for people looking for a free promising DVD ripper....here you are...at the right place!

  Cons

  As someone earlier said...there should be a progress bar...because novice and first time users may get annoyed about how much time it would take. But if u r reading this review...then u must be noticing that it is a minor issue...!
