This audio-conversion tool is only appropriate for those comfortable with writing code, but even those folks might gripe about the stingy trial restriction and high price. The program doesn't necessarily have an interface in the traditional sense of the word; instead, you'll mainly see an MS-DOS-type box that tells you how to string together commands to rip CDs or convert existing music files to WAV, WMA, MP3, or AIFF formats. For instance f, --output-format= selects the output format, whereas -u, --cddb searches the Web for track information. Audio Converter Command-Line Tool does boast a few features we don't always see in conversion applications, including a normalization tool and a file merger. In our tests, the program did its job without incident, but the fact the demo only will convert or rip three quarters of any given track makes it tough for us to get excited about it, particularly since free audio-conversion apps are readily available. Still, if you're too busy programming to use a traditional audio app, this utility will be right up your alley.
