Lacking any way to edit cursors, this free cursor utility works more like a conversion tool. On those grounds, it's pretty effective. AniTuner imports images in most popular formats and converts AVI files and GIF animations into animated cursors and back. You can create a semitransparent shadow for Windows XP and set color format between 2 and 32 bits with preview. The interface is far from perfect (for even a simple action you have to open a few menus and click a few buttons), but the program itself works well within its narrow bounds. To edit a frame of your cursor, you'll have to use Photoshop, ImageReady, or some other external image editor and load the frame back into AniTuner. Professionals and serious amateurs will want something else, but dabblers will appreciate AniTuner's simple operation, compact size, and freeware price.

Pros
I looked all over for something like this. Thank you. Really outstanding program
Cons
I can't think of anything to complain about especially since it's free.

For the price, this a great program.
tracyw3000
Pros
The program is easy to use, takes little disk space, and does provide great cursor (or pointer) animation creation.
Cons
The program uses your default graphic program, which can be a little tedious when editing more than a few frames of animation. The program would be fantastic if it included a graphic editor to reduce the swapping back and forth between programs.

Pros
This program is difficult to use when trying to create a new animated cursor.

I could not find a button where I could use a grid to fill colors, etc.

But, this program's other functions are very simple and easy to use.

It's easy to edit animated cursors, and it is easy to find every animated cursor on your pc.

Works fine using WindowsXP.
Cons
Summary
Nice looking but tedious. 98 users beware
Kahali_tao
Pros
The file size is nice and compact, and the program is well built (cosmetic wise).
Cons
The AniTuner is very tedious to use. It redirects your computer to your default image editor (mine is adobe... takes a while to load). There is alot of Jumping around to do and is not very convenient. I suggest Cosmigo's product. Also I am running windows 98 and have encountered MANY problems when running this program.

I ran this for 3 minutes, got sick of the problems and jumping around and uninstalled it.
