Create 3D pictures and animation at home or in the studio.
Now anyone can create 3D pictures and animation at home or in the studio with Animation:Master. This remarkable program includes everything you need to create fabulous computer graphics; including complete sculpting features, powerful animation tools, superb rendering, and all this is compatible with the most popular computers. "Animation:Master" gives both beginning and advanced animators the ability to tell their stories. Remarkably, wrapped into one interface are advanced features like inverse kinematics, ray-tracing, image mapping, and modeling of complex organic and mechanical objects. The revolutionary patch-based technology makes it easy to create natural, fluid-moving characters, scenery, and props. "Animation:Master", the 3D motion picture studio is the most powerful and affordable spline based modeling and animation program available. Specifically designed for classic character animation, the drag and drop, customizable interface and powerful motion tools give you the control that is required to tell your story. Since A:M is geared toward character animation, it gives you the ability to build libraries of actions and characters that can be reused over and over. Its cross platform compatibility makes A:M an excellent choice for studios with multiple types of systems.
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Until recently, I did not feel compelled to review. I've replied to one review (scroll down) if you want to see my comments more in full, but I'll summarize:
It's a mac-port of a PC Program. Stability, support, reliability all lacking on a Mac. Company attitude: "Get a PC." User group attitude: "Get a PC."
It uses non-standard patch-based modelling rather than the more universally accepted Sub-Division Surface technique. Since most renderers now support dynamic SDS, their is almost no advantage to patch-based modelling for charcacter animaiton.
It claims many advanced features that are so poorly implemented to be almost unusable.
It is so unstable that it is an exercise in frustration to actually learn the program and even old hands trip over existing bugs.
Company attitude is" "We're a small company, so you can't expect a quality product." If you don't mind that, then I guess A:M is OK. If you have to make a living, it's completely unacceptable.
Tiger version more than a year late. Their response? Blame Apple.
They proudly point out the three or four alumni who have gotten "industry Jos" while ignoring the *thousands* (maybe tens of thousands at this point) who will have nothing to do with A:M and Hash.
Caveate Emptor! Steer clear if you value your time and money.

Id love to deal with a learning curve, but the developers might want to keep up with the technology. Last piece of software I buy at Macworld SF presented by a slick, paid for, front man doing a demo on how easy and support orientated the company is. Its all been a waste.
