Android Video Player can handle all the video formats you're likely to use on your smartphone or tablet and provides a smooth playback experience without taxing your system. However, it suffers from nagging ads and a plain and unappealing user interface, and it lacks the intuitive gesture controls of other similar apps.

Pros

Excellent file support: Android Video Player plays everything from AVI to FLV and also supports lesser-known video formats like 3GP, MKV, TS, and MPG. All these run great and can be fast-forwarded or rewound with ease.

Smooth playback: Because of its adaptive algorithm and hardware decoding features, this video player provides a highly enjoyable playback experience devoid of lag, stuttering, glitches, or crashes. You do need a strong processor and plenty of RAM for best results, though.

Easy file navigation: After launch, the app automatically shows your folders so that you can quickly navigate to your movies directory and tap to open videos, saving you the trouble of having to import files.

Cons

Unappealing interface: Though accessible enough, the UI feels plain and drab when compared to that of other similar video players. At least the icons are alright.

Doesn't support SD card: On our tablet this was not a problem, but many smartphone users won't be able to watch videos stored on their SD cards.

Pestering ads: This app forces fullscreen ads on you constantly.

Bottom Line

Android Video Player impresses with its excellent support for video formats and good playback performance, but because of its lackluster interface and ads, it may annoy you. This video player is worth downloading and using, but there are more polished, less nagging alternatives in the Google Play store.
