Tiger users beware
sudbird
Pros
Not sure if there are any since install failed
Cons
I downloaded the app frm a site that didn't indicate the OSX generation. I wrk pro with computers and can't afford to have software upgrades (esp Adobe) and hardware out of sync, therefore, a system upgrade is a very momentous decision.
Summary
Amazon should realize that there are still plenty of users out there on earlier platforms (and 10.4 is as different from 10.5 as XP is to Windows 7), and give us access.
It works as designed.

Pros
Like I said, it works as designed.
Cons
Not for me.

Kindle for Mac 1.2.2, ZERO stars, crashes MacOS 10.6.4
dananiel_b
Pros
Who can tell if there's anything to like? Won't start. Hangs the OS. It takes a big time screwup to hang a Unix OS.
Cons
I'm an electronics engineer. This product did NOT go through software QA. I bought an e-book, my first, assuming it was a real product. Wasted the money on the e-book..
Summary
I'm an electronics engineer. Kindle for Mac 1.2.2 was not adequately QA'd before release. This is not a minor feature failure. It reliably crashes the latest MacOS when initializing. Amazon, if this was written by your crew, then replace the management because they are clueless about SW QA. If you bought it from an independent developer, your purchasers and contracts people need to get a LOT smarter about buying software. In either case, your SW QA has either failed you or does not exist. Please remove this product from the shelf until it works properly.
This should be called Kindle Light.

Pros
Easy load, easy access.
Cons
Unable to highlight, search, or copy to clip board.
Summary
Kindle for Mac is read-only without search. Quoting from an ebook is risky without search, and complex. It requires taking screen shot(s) and converting to text with an OCR application.
Excellent ebook reader and book store for iPad et al.
Mal_white
Pros
Keeps bookmarks synchronized between registered devices, don't need to be connected to PC/Mac to download and read books, good range of authors to get books by.
Cons
can't read books from other sources (PDFs or other ebooks), have had problems on 1 Mac with synchronous updates (ok on 5 other devices)

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Simple, straightforward, works great. I installed in on 2 of my Macs. I started reading a book on the first Mac and the 2nd Mac automatically started at the place where I left off.
