We remember trying to play along with our favorite songs when we were learning to play bass guitar and struggling, because the songs moved faster than our neophyte fingers could. We wish we'd had Amazing Slow Downer for Windows then. This innovative tool allows users to change the speed of audio playback using a simple slider, and it's a great tool for anyone trying to learn to play along with their favorite songs.

The program's interface is plain, but it's well organized and intuitive. Amazing Slow Downer's controls are represented by a series of sliders and drop-down menus. We liked that the Amazing Slow Downer could handle digital audio files and CDs; we tried it with both and it worked fine. The application has multiple useful features, including the option to set start and end points for looping; this allows users to listen to the most challenging part of a song over and over again until they master it. The speed slider has quite a large range, and allows users to increase speed above normal if desired. The program also has an equalizer and a karaoke option that reduces (but does not entirely eliminate) the vocal track. The program's built-in Help file is well written. Overall, we found Amazing Slow Downer for Windows to be quite fun and easy to use, and we think it's a great choice for anyone who's learning an instrument.

Amazing Slow Downer for Windows is free to try, but the trial version will only play the first two tracks of a CD and the first quarter of an audio file. The program installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

Can't reinstall the program on a new computer. It won't accept your paid password. I'm NOT paying for the program TWICE!

Does slow down music to suit playing along with learning new music pieces, but....read below If anyone knows how to isolate this issue so that Amazing Slow Downer selects a single file and does not automatically read and then change any file extensions I would appreciate any advice. thanking you in advance.
Cons
Contains a nasty flaw, the software is incompatible with other video/movie format files held on Mac. Unable to pre-select a music file to play / open with Amazing Slow Downer. Software reads and converts all files including digital camera videos stored on computer, even though you want to play solely one particular music piece. Son's tutor had the same issue where this software overwrites the file extension format, in my case changed all my video formats avi to MP4. I bought the actual software on disk does not come with a case, and is mailed in a cardboard envelope. Informed Roni Music the software seller/owner of the flaw, he immediately reacted defensively and just said it wasn't possible. I know of another who also has the same issue with saved music videos, songs that seem to have disappeared, but the files are still there, just that each file format has changed and will require renaming back to original format. Very time consuming esp if you have lots of music / video files.
Summary
Contains a flaw, being unable to run this software without the software changing / damaging existing music / videos formats making the files unrecognisable. Only useful if your computer does not have files stored, that this software will not automatically access / read. When you open Amazing Slow Downer, it instantly reads all files and actual software instrument panel appears, becomes a problem when in fact all you wanted to is watch a video. Otherwise video/movie format files will be renamed to MP4, in my case I needed to manually rename each file back to the file correct format in order to watch / use videos. My son's music tutor is now unable to watch most of his stored music videos and movies. Reation from developer was poor particularly since I purchased (PAID) the full version.

Totally love it! It's easy to install, download, and start using. You can try out the free demo version first to make sure it's compatible with your OS. You can easily transcribe music (I use it for piano) with it. Because the developer of this software is a musician, he designed it in such a way that it does what you need, without extra overhead. Software is super small and takes seconds to install. I bought it from the maker's website with paypal. Absolutely satisfied and loving it.
Cons
There is useful documentation/help, but you can't print all of it at once. You have to print it one page at a time, or read online.
Summary
If you are looking for something to help you transcribe music (from CD or from iTunes), then this is the best tool for you.

You can slow down and part of the song as much as you want an save it as a loop to play over and over again. You can change the pitch without changing the speed or the speed without changing the pitch.

ASD is really really great! Easy to use and a very fast program. There is a huge range of speed to slow or speed up a song.

Brilliant - use the free version with the limitations and see for yourself. You may not even need to buy. I've only used the free version for many years now. :D
