Allway Sync synchronizes multiple copies of files on all your devices: PCs, laptops, removable drives, and more. Its algorithms detect the most recent changes, no matter which device you make them on, and update everything with true bidirectional synchronization. Data is logged in a local database for privacy and security. Allway Sync is free for personal use with limitations.

Pros

Advanced synchronizer: During setup, you can opt to install a Windows service that synchronizes data automatically at the system level without requiring you to log in.

Multiple platforms: As its name suggests, Allway Sync updates data on many different devices, like PCs, laptops, remote servers, USB drives, and other online storage solutions; encrypted data, too. Mobile apps are available, too.

Jobs: You can create and even clone Jobs for frequent or large sync batches.

Easy-to-use interface: While Allway Sync's user interface isn't exactly attractive, it's easy to figure out.

Cons

Freemium: Allway Sync is free for "moderate personal use," which means up to 40,000 files in 30 days. Heavy users and businesses are advised to upgrade to Allway Sync Pro.

Time conflicts: According to the documentation, Allway Sync can have issues synching files when one or more PCs in the loop has a system clock error, which is all too common in Windows PCs.

Bottom Line

Allway Sync has some nice features, and most private users won't notice the free version's limitations. It's well worth trying Allway Sync head-to-head against other free-with-limits sync services, like Dropbox.

Summary
This software is not free to use as the advertisement makes you believe. It is just a few day preview then stops working and asks for a serial. Wile passable as freeware, the software quality is severely lacking to ask $25 after 10 days of use...

After a few weeks use the program demands an upgrade to a paid version otherwise it will stop working, no warning when installing. This used to be a really good piece of software, but the new upgrade requirements and more importantly how they have been implemented stink. I certainly dont mind paying for good software, but I opject to being blackmailed by it - bye bye Allway Sync

Has all the features I need for syncing. Smart about deciding which version of a file is newer, several options for file versioning. Reliable.

Not free. Doesn't have compression option for backed-up data.

The best robust sync app I found for the money. Multiple licenses are discounted and they frequently have sales. I'd probably use this as my backup program as well if it had the option to compress files copied (a backup mode).<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Apr 6, 2014<p/>Correction: this program DOES have the option to compress and/or encrypt files. You have to push "Configure" next to the target folder in the main windows to see those options. So, although it has a slight clunky interface, this does everything I need. Since Windows 8.1 File History doesn't work, I'm going to be using Allway Sync for all of my Libraries.

Pros
It worked well for about 3-4 months, work place network to usb drive. I take it home and want to synch to drive at home as well. So it synchs to 3 drives.
Cons
Eventually, my synch did not copy new files to the network, instead it kept copying over the files on the network even though the setting were copy both ways and propogate etc, very easy to set it up and intuitive. Messed with it a while. Thought my drive must be bad, windows thought it now had errors (a usb3.0 less than a year old). So I scan disk etc. Same thing happens again after re-formatting the drive, copy paste whole folder over (110GB), then synch again. Soon it thinks the drive is corrupt again. So I buy a new seagate 2TB drive. Within a week windows thinks most of my folder are corrupt again, yet the server at work files are all ok. So either two brand new drives are somehow magically both bad, or this software has bugs and was not coded to align properly with Microsoft best practices use of their GUI code. By the way, I am on brand new install of windows 8 on a new gaming mobo setup.
Summary
Junk. Bad programming, software full of bugs that may take a while to reveal themselves, but I can tell you their programmers took shortcuts. I switched to a competitor synch program, SAME hardware, new format, new partition, no issues. It seems as though it was AllWay Synch that was corrupting my files. Good luck if you use this software.

I've been using this product (first free, then paid) for 2 years now. After trying many, many other products, this one simply works. Free updates are still issued frequently.
Develop Free Version for Copy Limitation; not Processes

Much faster than some other backup/sync tools over a wiFi network.
Cons
The free version is limited to processing 40,000 files per month. Every file that is looked at, even if not copied, is considered processed. at this time, I am not sure if the comparisons of two files (original and its mirror) is considered one process or two, and if the requirement to update the mirror files constitutes a third process. What I experienced is a one-time backup and daily monitoring of 7,000 personal files (pictures, videos, music) over a 30-day period has equated to over 201,000 processes--locking up the system. There are no setup instructions that provide a cautionary tale with hints on setting up schedules, etc. to prevent exceeding the 40,000 process limit.

Bottom line up top: Today's home user no longer has a few dozen files as we did in the 80's and 90's. Today, the home PC is a repository for the family's entire photographic, music and video collections. The word Terrabyte is fast becoming synonimous with the home PC--not because of work ethic or gaming, but because of the needed storage to hold the family files....40,000 processes per month is nothing. Instead of restricting the "Free" version based on process count; restrict based on copy count (regardless of direction). State up front how many copies or mirror updates are allowed per month, be it 5,000; 10,000; 15,000; etc. to give the user more control and understanding. If the application cannot monitor copies, then Perhaps some instruction or help that states to uncheck the myriad of checkboxes in the application scheduler (at start up, when idle, within X time of noting changes, at shutdown, etc.), and only use a weekly Windows backup schedule. With that help, provide an example (E.g. monitoring 1,000 files once per day = 2,000 processes per day).

Without properly alerting you, this software does not necessarily back up everything you ask to be backed up.
Summary
I spot checked it and everything seemed fine. However, here i am trying to recover data and have discovered that it appears to have a file count limit per month, so when it reached the limit, it just stopped backing things up. Maybe there were alerts on a file by file basis, but so many file notifications fly by that it is impossible to track. Reading the reviews here - looks like there is a monthly limit on the number of files that can be backed up (though the product never announced this in any way or threw noticeable errors or warnings that my files weren't being backed up). This software totally let me down in an area where software should not. I highly recommend not using this product. Also - after use, it started kicking out errors that i was 'backing things up too much'. Hmmm. backup software complaining that i am using it; not for me thanks. Design and usability is great.

Lots of aborts and apparent bugs in the automated processes (which for me is how I mainly use it)> Support seems to be non-existent. Does not support ftps which is now required by Yahoo. Was beginning to recommend to my customers until I found how unreliable it is.
Summary
If it worked it would be an awesome product. But I have found it to be very unreliable and with no support. Also I had it syncing files with my web site at yahoo and they switched to requiring FTPS(Not SFTP) and the product does not support it. If you are looking for an automated synchronization software, I can not at this time recommend it.
