Age of Mythology transports players to a time when heroes did battle with monsters of legend and the gods intervened in the affairs of mortal men. Age of Mythology was created by Ensemble Studios. Players guide one of nine ancient civilizations to greatness by commanding all aspects of their empire, from establishing profitable trade routes and building new settlements to waging war and advancing through four distinct ages. In their struggle for supremacy, players can use mythological creatures like Minotaurs and Cyclopses to bolster their armies' strength, and they can call upon the gods for assistance in flattening enemy towns with meteors or scattering opposing troops with lightning storms.

The mythology aspects could have been done in a frivolous way but instead they really add an entire new dimension to the game play. The campaign also has a neat range of challenges. The update fixed most of the bugs but I'm seeing one remaining bug that is really causing me difficulties. The Ai doesn't always respect the walls. Sometimes units walk right through the wall. Usually just a unit or two but in this last game it acted as if the wall just wasn't there. This really messes up the game play. :( If they could just fix this bug it would be a perfect game.

The graphics are pretty and the gameplay has been refined over the earlier ones in the series. My only complaint are occasional bugs that result in heroes being stuck and unable to move. Since they're so important, this can wreck a session. Othat than that, totally worth getting. No crashing bugs. Playing on a Ti-Powerbook under 10.2.8. Cheers!
Not quite WC3, but almost! Lots of fun.

I have a Quicksilver Dual Gig running Panther and have not experienced the dual processor crashes others have reported. I've played almost all the way through the single player campaign, and haven't had one crash. Overall, I'm enjoying this game very much. I was/am a big fan of the Warcraft series, and find this to be a similar, but nice change of pace.

Most of the annoying stuff is gone and full on improvements in just about every aspect of this title brought to vibrant reality. I've not experienced one single crash under Panther or 10.2.8 (at work) on any hardware configuration which isn't something I could say about Age Of Empires 2 when it was delivered at v1.0. I have no idea why this title is misbehaving for those other folks but I would try easing the graphic settings and see if there's a relation to the crash. Just a thought. I'm so happy with my early Christmas present this year! :)

I have a G4 dual 500MHz, 1.3 GB RAM, Panther 10.3.1 and the wireless mouse. I have Age II and UT 2003 also from Macsoft with no problems at all -- there's got to be a patch coming soon, as this is unacceptable. I'm also a little disappointed that Macsoft doesn't even have a support page up on the MacSoft website for Age of Mythology - the FAQ is also out of date on many of the topics by 1-2 years. However, they were quick to offer patches for Age II, so hopefully they will do the same for Age of Mythology. In the mean time, I would recommend saving often.
I hate having to write titles in.

The game's loads of fun, and I'm glad to see MacSoft ported it. My only request would be to have a feature in the game that automatically disabled the MacOS X screen saver hot corners; when wanting to move the camera southeast, my screen saver comes on!
