  dont waste your time in thing, I dont have any idea why someone ca offer an unopperative software, first thing that appears is: demo version will show ONLY A PREVIEW of the rpaired software, what a waste of time!!!

  I tried 5 different Word "fixers", and only two gave me back something I could kind of read... WordFIX did its best, but I wasn't willing to pay the $90 they wanted for the full version. It replaced the middle of sentences with the word DEMO. Had any kind of formatting been preserved, I would have forked over the money. The other program was "Word Pad" -- you know, the freebie that comes with Windows under "Accessories". It opened the file, displayed all the text, and managed not to recover any formatting other than line breaks. There were many special characters left in the file, and I assume they were the garbage inserted somehow during the corruption (son turned box off without saving or shutting down gracefully). My main goal was recovering the text, so Word Pad did the job. The shareware that is being reviewed now, AWR, locked up at 45%. This is about where the file corrupts the most, so it's no surprise. However, a good program should anticipate some garbage, and it should time itself out. Instead, it's hung, and there's nothing to do but kill it.
