Track unauthorized changes and errors to AD and Group Policy configurations.
Active Directory auditing solution that tracks all changes made to Active Directory and Group Policy such as permission delegation and schema changes. The product automatically creates change audit reports and real-time alerts that shows WHO changed WHAT, WHEN, and WHERE for all changes in human-readable form without having to resolve complicated native identifiers. NetWrix Active Directory change auditing software features report subscription capabilities that allow for configuration of scheduled report delivery. The change audit reports list additions, deletions, and modifications made to Active Directory users, groups, computers, OUs, group memberships, permissions, domain trusts, AD sites, FSMO roles, Group Policy objects and settings, AD schema, and all other types of objects filling the many major gaps found in natively available resources.
Installed eaisly with no issues and runs report upon request. I was testing this on my home network,
Cons
Only provides the 2 "W's" in the free version that something was changed and what but NOT who or when.
Summary
if you just need a report that something was changed then this is for you. If you really need to know who or when be ready to pay and the only option is to get a quote- you can't even get a "ballpark price" form the site.
Free AD audit software
CraigL300
Pros
It's free. I get a daily report of changes to AD and Group Policy. Cheaper than other more expesive solutions, such as MOM. Great for a medium size company. Better than having to search through logs on every Domain controller.
Cons
Free version does not tell you the time the change was made, or who made the change. I suppose I can always search my security logs to investigate.
Summary
For a free audit of Active Directory, that you can schedule to run daily, and have sent to your mailbox. You cannot beat that. It beats searching through your log files on every Domain controller. We are a small shop, so buying the Full version is not really needed for us.
