Editors’ Review
This free utility provides quick access to Windows built-in system maintenance tools, but its outdated approach is a turnoff.
Windows Powertools uses a primitive DOS-command window with each of its options listed in numerical order from 1 to 11. The program allows you to clear your cache, open the task manager and Windows registry editor, and clean, defrag, or scan your disk drive by simply typing the corresponding number and hitting enter.
For advanced users, Windows Powertools offers drive-partition conversion and conversions to NTFS. The program worked fine during our tests, but the DOS window has little appeal and it seems just as easy to access the Windows tools through the standard methods. You won't have to pay for what Windows Powertools offers, but it doesn't feel like it's offering much.
