Editors' Review

In spite of some interface missteps and a virtually nonexistent feature set, this freebie makes converting units of measurement a blissfully easy process. Unit Calculator's grey-box-style interface couldn't be less exciting, and it can't even be minimized to your taskbar. However, it is logically arranged into eight sections for mass, distance, speed, computer units, temperature, plane, volume, and energy. You simply choose two units of measurement from the drop-down menus, enter a number, and the application will give you the correct conversion calculation. Unit Calculator offers the choice between English and German languages, but that's the only user-customization option you'll find. However, since it is free and totally functional, we'd guess folks who need to routinely perform unit conversions can forgive this utility's flaws.
