Easily grab media files off the Web using this simple Firefox freeware add-on. UnPlug adds a tiny fish icon to your browser window. When you're on a site containing audio or video files, just click the fish and a compact window appears listing the URLs of available media files.
Just click a URL and the download very quickly starts. Oddly, downloaded video file all default to the name get_video. You'll need to take the extra step to rename every file. That's a small price to pay, though, for the simplicity of using this freeware add-on. It's pretty easy to give the file any name you choose and save it to the directory of your choice. If you forget to specify a folder, files are still easily found saved to your desktop.
This add-on is dead simple to install and operate. We can easily recommend UnPlug to any level user looking to build a library of favorite audio and video files.
UnPlug is an extension which lets you save video and audio which is embedded on a Web page - it's a video download tool. UnPlug scans Web pages and tells you where media players are getting their data from, and displays it as a simple hyperlink: in most cases, you can then follow the simple download link to save the media file.
UnPlug works for lots of sites including youtube.com, ifilm.com, current.tv, revver.com, peekvid.com, video.google.com, mobuzztv.com, and more. Unlike many other extensions, UnPlug scans the page, and if it doesn't know there the data comes from it can guess - correctly most of the time.
