This small program provides strong privacy protection with none of the confusing setups of other proxy tools. In seconds, you'll be ready to surf privately and securely with Ultrasurf's fast, private proxies.

When you launch this program for the first time, it loads Internet Explorer automatically. This can be changed in the options menu as this tool works well with other browsers, too. Ultrasurf has a very simple interface with Home, Retry, Option, Help, and Exit buttons. One thing we found to be a bit awkward was the golden lock icon, which showed up on our Windows Taskbar after we started the program. However, we managed to hide it by unchecking the option. Overall, this tool is very easy to use and page-loading time while browsing the Web is quite fast. It is an ideal tool for people who don't know much about how proxies work, as you don't have to assign any port numbers or play with the features in order to hide your IP address. Those who are familiar with using proxy servers can change the proxy settings manually if they wish.

If you like to protect your privacy or can't access certain Web sites due to censorship, Ultrasurf will be the easiest gateway for you. It doesn't have a plethora of options, but overall it does what it's designed to do.

Allows you to access sites that you can't without a proxy.
Cons
UltraSurf is hosted by the ISP Hurricane Electric Inc. in Freemont, CA. The IP addresses they allow users access to (e.g., mine was 65.49.14.158) are all NSA-affiliated IP ranges according to Cryptome.
Summary
If you need access to something you can't get without a proxy, it works. Just know that they know what you are looking at and so does the NSA.

this is a great tool for all to have. Paying for Internet services totaling over $70 per month You should not be blocked by any website. I use my mobile phone (hot spot) as my modem to access WiFi on my laptop. Now I can access HULU NETFLIX and YOU TUBE using this amazing tool. I was paying HOT SPOT Shield 4.95 per month like a dummy just to access NETFLIX..... THANKS ULTRA SURF...

Pros
Small profile - uses virtually no processing power and 50mb of ram while running. Works on Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Its literally just 1 file - an .exe. You can run it from any location like it advertises, though I haven't tried to run it directly from online storage - just a flash drive so far. Its definitely not a trojan. If your AV detects it as such, your AV is delivering a false-positive to you. Doesn't really limit your speed either like other services do. It does slow down your internet connection slightly, but it is slight. I have a 20mbps down, 3mbps up service and on speed tests it resulted in a 18.9mbps down, 2.3 up speeds. That's very good results for a completely free program such as this. Doesn't create ads or popups like the others do to "pay" for the service.
Cons
Doesn't have many options. There is only so much "tweaking" you can do to it. The golden lock icon was kinda annoying but there is an option to turn it off. Its setup to work with IE, which I don't use, so I had to turn that feature off too. The pro's of this program FAR outweigh these cons, however.

- It works. - Easy to download, extract(unzip) and run. - No AV software problems(using Kaspersky/Malware Bytes Pro) - It just lets me use the sites that are banned by my ISP - No install as such, just unzip the .exe file and run so can be run off of a flash drive leaving no trace on PC after(as long as you run something like CC cleaner after the session) - As I understand it it was conceived to help Chinese people get round their country's restrictions so that should tell you something about its efficacy.
Cons
None as yet, but I've not long downloaded it, and I have no way of commenting on aspects like anonymity. Hard to comment on speed but it's working without any substantial delay that I can notice.

Afte Cyberghost just upped and stopped working and their support just didn't wnat to know, I eventually had to track down another. Minefield if you don't know your stuff. Would have preferred a VPN client, but seems unless you pay they all have their flaws. So was a toss up between this and TOR, but heard there's some doubt as to whether it's been compromised. Probably horsesh#t but didn't want to risk it. So went with this. What can I tell you it was real easy to download, unzip and run. It works. I can now access the sites my ISP in th eUK had blocked. So I'm happy. No noticable lag but not really used it long enough for a solid assessment yet. I do question whether all of these reviews are genuine. Check wikipedia for peace of mind if you're undecided. It convinced me.

Avast pick up a virus in files and then when i turned off antivirus to install thinking that maybe it was a false postive it open my browser to a fake hackers website below file:///C:/Users/me/Downloads/TT%20COPY.htm

I downloaded this program, scanned it with different softwares, Microsoft security, AND McAfee. They both said the file was safe. I opened it, it works flawlessly and is the best I've used. Great for those pesky administrator blocks! All in all, the bad reviews are from people demoting this product to promote theirs. Trust in this and enjoy!

It is small and does what it says it will do without any installation.
Cons
there is no way to make it use my default browser and it slowed down my computer. some how it hogged a ton of resources. it's actually much more trouble than it's worth.

-No Mac OS X Version -You use Internet Explorer. If they could put a portable Firefox, yeah, that'd be great.
Summary
This is a pretty godly piece of software. I highly recommend it if you want to get around blocks of any kind. I'll be visiting my friend in Shanghai and I am glad I have this software.
