Steptoe and Son is a British sitcom written by Ray Galton and Alan Simpson about a father-and-son business. They live in Shepherd's Bush, London. Four series were broadcast by the BBC from 196265, followed by a second run from 1970-74.
Albert Steptoe and his son Harold are junk dealers. Complete with horse and cart to collect salvage as they tour the neighbourhood. They live together at their modest home in the junk yard where the father has some disgusting personal habits which continue to embarrass the son. Harold is ambitious and wants to better himself, but his father always seems to ruin his plans, sometimes accidentally and other times deliberately. The pair live in squalor and the father has some disgusting personal habits which continue to embarrass the son.
