ScreenFlow is a lightweight and intuitive program for capturing videos of your screen and then processing them into professional-looking finished products. With just a few clicks, you can start recording. When you're done, you'll have a great lineup of editing tools at your disposal as well.

Pros

Basic mechanics: All you have to do to begin recording your screen through this app is to choose your desired video and audio inputs. Once you've captured the sequence you were after, just stop the recording with the preset hotkey, and you'll immediately be greeted with an editing screen. From here, you can preview your video and tweak it in all kinds of ways. When you're satisfied with your creation, you can export it directly to Vimeo, YouTube, or your own website.

Finishing options: Tools for editing and marking up your recordings include a Text Box feature, the ability to add Annotations, and a Crop option, among others. You can also adjust the screen recording properties with features like Pointer Zoom and Add Click Effect, and you can decide whether you want to have a sound produced when you click or not.

Cons

Time investment: Because this program does offer so much in terms of editing tools and finishing options, it can take some time to find your way around. For new users, there will be a sizable learning curve, but the resources are there to help you, and the time investment is worth it in the end.

Bottom Line

ScreenFlow is a convenient option for creating videos from your screen, webcam, or a combination of the two. It can take some time to get the hang of some of the more advanced features, but once you do, you'll have the ability to churn out great videos with regularity.
