Application will not open - crashes at startup (using MacOS X 10.7.3). The vendor ReadMe says it is supposed to work with OS 10.4 or above.

Pros
Our faxing is very occasional. We faxed today after no faxing over several system updates (maybe even since Leopard -> Snow Leopard). We did have a problem, but re-installation of PageSender solved it immediately. We're a satisfied customer.
Cons
There are no real cons for us except for the initial setup of the modem, and SmileOnMyMac helped us with that.

Pros
Faxes are stored as pdfs - faxes are readily accessible with Preview, Adobe, etc. Fax printing uses a set up that does not interfere with MacOS built in printing to pdf, unike FaxSTF.
Cons
There is a serious bug - emptying trash will delete all the faxes in Inbox. SMileOnMyMac says they can't reproduce problem, but I can. Do not use if don't want to risk losing faxes. Documentation on how to set up modem is poor.
Summary
A real pity, but this is just a light weight product for occasional home use. Built on an old Unix program with a poorly designed data base for keeping track of faxes. Be sure to back up often.

...Software<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I am a licensed user, but not really because I want to be there is simply no real choices out in the Mac world regarding fax software so this is it (FAXstf royally sucks, and yes, I am a licensed user of their garbage software too). Global Village Fax Software was included free with their modems. Even more disconcerting is that Global Village Fax Software was released almost two decades ago and it still beats PageSender in features, simplicity, and reliability. Go into PageSender Fax Sender and customize the toolbox. You will see two Pausing Fax icons. Sloppy. PageSender started with good promise, but has remained mediocre at best. If Global Village were to release software for the Mac again that worked with Leopard I would forever forget PageSender, and FAXstf as well.

However it just does not effectively or correctly under OS 10.5. I even went so far as to format my machine and reinstall only pagesender. Address book feature no longer works and can't be quit. Can't drag and drop from big address box. You need to type all fax numbers now, and even then it takes 7 to 8 minutes for the fax to get out of the print queue and start faxing. Modem does crazy "in use" thing and you need to restart. I miss this fantastic software and am eagerly awaiting a major patch or upgrade to fix the issues.

This software has been flaky at best, and I am now officially frustrated. Come on, how tough can it be to make a simple and effective fax software. Any developers out there?

But ever since I upgraded to Panther it's been nothing but trouble. Often times faxes are not intercepted at all and my paper fax machine winds up catching it after the 15th ring! Pages come in wrong (two and three to a page). It's not pretty. Now the newest version won't even run in Panther. (Maybe a concession that it was never right to begin with in that version of OS X.) Anyway, I just think PS is overrated. If I could ditch it for something more reliable--like Global Village's software under OS 9--I would.

Am using it on a PPC, OS 10.4.9 with Entourage and love the Spam filtering. I used to get several spam faxes a day, you know the type: "Low Mortgage", etc. Calling the 'remove fax' numbers was a waste of time. Now, I only see them once...add them to the spam list and they're gone. Love it!

IÃ¢??m using a PPC machine and while it will receive faxes I canÃ¢??t send! I have emailed back and forth with support and sent them a set of logs - no good - the fax printer is stopped. This, incidentally is an issue that 4.02 was supposed to deal with. So, at this point only 2 stars for its ability to receive and not send. I agree about Global Village - this is by far the standard against which all Mac software has to be measured!

I sent a fax from Apple Mail. TextEdit & Word 2004 without any problems. In short I'm a very satisfied customer.
