This small executable monitors several processes and presents select system information, but program quirks make it less than effective. Several types of monitoring (running processes and system and application events) and system information (CPU usage, available memory, software, licenses) are presented in a clean, tabbed interface. It's too bad a comprehensive help file wasn't included with this application. Much of the information could help intermediate users looking to solve a problem.
Tool tips are sluggish and generally present little new information. Though many of the charts resemble spreadsheets, none could column sort to help sift information. Most tabs only display information, but the Process Tab makes it easy to kill a process with a context menu click. The system information is helpful, with simple hardware and software inventories especially useful. The monitoring tools are adequate but sometimes sluggish. Notification messages are automatically sent over your network, and reports and warning messages can be set to e-mail when generated.
This demo is limited to three-hour intervals over 30 days. Primarily a tool useful to system administrators and advanced users, Overload Monitor is too much information for novice users.
