This program is a simulator of 16 casino video poker games. It looks similar to the machines in a real casino and has a realistic odd to win. The player can use it to practice gambling strategies or simply have some fun.
Does not run or install. Saw DLL error required installing DirectX SDK. This will not be done by most people who won't be able to figure it out but I went ahead and installed. Now kvpoker.exe gives error D3D10CreateDevice1 failed! I am running Vista Home Basic, SP 2 with all recommended patches, security and otherwise. I know there are a lot of Windows installs and variations, but an app needs to be able to self-install and not require an SDK which stands for software DEVELOPER kit, which a normal user wouldn't even understand. Your recommended MS link is not applicable to my version of Vista SP2. So 3 strikes so far...
Wouldn't run
skaizun
Pros
Wouldn't run, so I can't say there are any "pros".
Cons
Wouldn't run.
Summary
After downloading, I unzipped it, then ran the single executable (i.e., no cabs, dlls, gifs, or other tangential/corresponding files), and it said "d2d1.dll" missing. After reviewing the accompanying "readme" file, it said that "Windows Vista SP2 (needs Platform Update for Windows Vista KB971644)" are required. I already had Vista SP2, so I go the KB971644 update, rebooted, tried to run the program, and the same thing occurred. I don't give programs more than two shots. It either works, or it doesn't; it doesn't, so I deleted this poker game from my computer.
Great program allows you to practice for better results
hinkdog
Pros
It works just like the typical video poker game at the casino.
Cons
It only plays one type of game.
Summary
Don't expect fancy graphics or sound, or an animated casino girl to pay off your jackpot. It's a very simple interface, but it can help you figure out whether you're better off holding that pair, or going for the flush.
