  easy tag system, scalable images, quick install, loads lots of hi-res images quickly, no crap ware. need i say more?

  Not intuitive. Impossible to find out how to start. Uninstalled.

  Looks quite good but of no value without some instructions as to how to start the program. Pity.

• Does a nice job with managing images through key words

  Pros

  Robust key word assignment. One can assign hierarchical key words. That is, if Sally is a sub-tree of Family, you only have to tag it with Sally to also come up when searching "family". The interface is well thought out. Database can be moved.

  Cons

  Some features are not obvious. For instance, enabling file name display took me a while. You cannot zoom an image when in the actual management screen.

  Summary

  Program is excellent at what it does. Image database is in access which is another nice bonus if you are handy with that. While the database can be moved the path to the images is absolute.. so you have to work around that. It is unfortunate that the image path is not relative to the location of the database. I store all my images on a thumb drive which I plug into whatever computer I am using at the time. It would be nice if the program could handle the changes in drive letter transparently. You have to set up keywords before they can be assigned. This can be kind of awkward but it does ensure that you dont enter two almost alike keywords. For instance, I might try to tag two images of the same locomotive as GP38 and GP-38. The hierarchy of keywords is a very nice feature and one I had not encountered before. Since I am using this to allow me to search images saved from the web for my research I find this especially handy. The image viewing is not stellar. One has to go into a full screen viewing mode or launch a plugin from a sub-menu to be able to zoom on an image. One should be able to do this right from the main program screen. I have not filled it up with many keywords yet. It remains to be seen how well the system works when it starts to get filled up. Bottom line.. if you want a free program that does keyword based image management this one is great. If you want any kind of image manipulation tools this probably is not your best bet. As a way to archive images I have saved from the web I have found it seems useful. I am not sure if I am going to use it long term but right now it is the top contender.

  Tagging is simple, pics easy to import.

  Cons

  The display shows no file names. The other problem I have is displaying EXIF data, the Info buton does nothing.

  -well, upon opening, amessage stating "entry point not found"...then another error upon connecting to my local settings (HUH?)...then the entry point window error message again...and once again another error message stating "an unhandled exception has occurred in my application"...upon continuing, IT SHUTS DOWN!!! <p>FORGET THIS CRAP! so many programs i've downloaded from download.com and this one wins with the most ERROR MESSAGES upon starting

• it changed my white balance

  good organizer.

  Cons

  It changed the white balance of my thumbnail. I wanted to use the thumbnail view in segregating good from bad shots but I can't tell anymore which ones are good or bad because it changes the white balance of my thumbnails. It's auto white balancing isn't correct. It has turned my thumbnails into yellowish. I'd like the program to have a control wherein we can choose to auto white balance the thumbnails or not. The original image however hasn't changed, only the thumbnail did.

  Be very careful regarding this download, when you try to delete the images from the photo album, it will also delete your photos and images from your hard drive, you will not be able to get them back.
