Preview the new and modern Office for Mac. You will receive regular updates automatically until the official release in the second half of 2015. Office 2016 for Mac is powered by the cloud so you can access your documents anytime, anywhere, and on any device. It's unmistakably Office - but thoughtfully designed to take advantage of the unique features of the Mac. The new apps offer full retina display support with thousands of retina-optimized graphics, full screen view for native immersive experiences, and even little Mac affordances like scroll bounce. The new Office 2016 for Mac includes updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook-and the moment you open any one of the apps, you'll immediately feel the difference. We've modernized the user experience and made it easier to get things done. The redesigned ribbon intuitively organizes features so you can quickly find what you need quickly. A refreshed task pane interface makes positioning, resizing, or rotating graphics easy so you can create exactly the layout you want. And new themes and styles help you pull it all together to produce stunning, professional documents.
DOES NOT WORK with Hyperlinked document during presentations. Hyperlinked documents (video, URL, Word, other PPTX documents) do NOT work properly. They WILL show on the presenter's screen but won't project unless you exit the presentation. This has been reported to MS numerous times ... but NO response. Has been an issue with PCs since 2013 (NOW I find out!).
2. Convoluted means to show "Hidden" slides. You NORMALLY, "Hide" a slide so that you can hyperlink (there I go, again) to it, show it and then return to the previous slide. THEN ... when you go to other slides, the hidden slide isn't shown. 2016 does NOT work that way!
3. When you do EXIT the presentation for an external hyperlink, and then attempt to return to the particular slide bulleted point you hyperlinked from, it takes you back to the PRESENTATION ... but you get to AGAIN sort through your WHOLE slide deck! You MUST complete the slides in your hyperlinked file and then EXIT it to return properly??!! :-(
Summary
IF ... you can remain with Powerpoint 2011 ... DO IT ... otherwise go with Keynote!
Shortcut keys still don't match windows despite claims.
ChristianB3D
Pros
Nice templates, looks a little cleaner.
Cons
The one thing that made me want to get it was this promise "Improved keyboard shortcuts: Support for the most popular Windows Word keyboard shortcuts".
FAIL! Excel shortcuts still don't match Excel on Windows.
Summary
I was super hopeful but sadly disappointed to see that the shortcuts still don't match Windows shortcuts. Back to Google sheets for the majority of my spreadsheet work. You would think that with all the market share that Microsoft is loosing they would make sure they get things right.
You didn't describe the pricing model
WGibson6481
Pros
I do not really care about the "enhanced capabilities," if I do not know the cost.
Cons
Office 2011 for the Mac was a "one-time cost" model ? I bought the software, put it on my machines, and the use (and the files) was (were) free. However, Cloud-based software runs two risks 1) the vendor goes "belly up" and I do not have the software to run independently and/or I lose my data/files, and 2) every time I access the data/files, I am paying for the usage. One who uses the programs a lot pay more than those who do not; but the "heavy users" pay through the nose on every usage.
If you / Microsoft do not provide the pricing model, in advance, and Microsoft does not lock it in, then we (the users) are at the mercy of their pricing model.
Give me the disks every time.
Summary
Never will I go to this model.
Only for Yosemite
nornorb
Pros
Nothing, because it doesn't run on Mavericks
Cons
Only Yosemite (my worst buggy OSX since 8 years - I switched back to Mavericks with my one year old iMac)
Summary
It should be compatible with Mavericks

Cons
Read the Pros. Dont be fooled!!!! Dont bother downloading this unless they change it to what they say it is! Check before you ok it!!!!

Microsoft Office Why?
mlcgruhlke
Pros
None that I can think of
Cons
This is a Bill Gates product, need I say more?
Summary
Why run a Microsoft program when Open Office is available. Afterall, MS just used the code from OO to create they own program and marketed it making millions of dollars. Open Office is much more user friendly, doesn't crash like MS Office and best yet, it's FREE!!!!!!!
