  Sometimes useful to see if recipient has read your email(s).

  - many recipient bypass the msg tag feature, - it's VERY SLOW (20-30 seconds per email), so useless for large mailouts! - sometimes the msgtag server is down, so your emails are delayed (or simply lost) - no longer supported, no upgrades

  Summary

  It's useless for general use. I've been using msgtag now for over a year and I've noticed that only a few people allow me to see if they've read their emails. And because it's so slow (every email has to wait for a tag to be generated from the msgtag server), I couldn't use msgtag for large mailouts. When I realised this, I contacted support (and didn't get a reply until I traced the developer via a personal email address, and even then it took a month to get a reply) - I was told that the product is no longer being developed or supported. And no refunds allowed either! Many emails got lost because either the msgtag server goes down or the tag gets delayed. You have to be very careful to check that every email gets sent. I finally decided it was a waste of time and uninstalled the product. I love the concept and would like to find an alternative product. This one has curiosity value only and is obsolete. Give it a miss.

• MSTAG no longer works for me.

  Pros

  I previously purchased MSTAGPlus and had been using it for some time. with good results. It quit working. It is a good program when it is working. I like the fact that the tag is invisible if you want it to be. Again, if the program works.

  Cons

  I previously purchased MSTAGPlus and had been using it for some time. It quit working. Free version doesn't work either. Email to Support@mstag.com was returned as undeliverable. I don't know what to do to make it work.

  Summary

  I am not sure if MSTAG.com is still in business. I left online feedback about my purchased version of MSTAGPlus no longer working and I heard nothing back from them. I sent an email to support@mstag.com and it came back as undeliverable. The free version doesn't work for me either. I think since I purchased the PLUS version, it should work. However I cannot communicate with them to get help.

  I have been using Msgtag for years, and I have no problems with it. But, as for any program, it is necessary to configure it properly.<p>It is a program very useful.

  Cons

  The only problem is for the recipients without html mail client software, but they are a little minority.

  This produce made two different versions of Eudora inoperable. I couldn't wait to uninstall it, reset my smtp settings, and get my system back up and running.

  Despite the Msgtag website giving the impression that it's a fantastic product, the reality is that it won't work at all with well over 50% of e-mail recipients, and with those it does work with, it's very erratic. It leaves you constantly wondering if the reason an e-mail seems not to have been received was just Msgtag failing yet again, or maybe it really was one of those few e-mails which vanished in transit. <p>If you have to know when someone has seen your e-mail, just use Return Receipt even though it does annoy a lot of people. <p>I asked Msgtag for a partial or full refund of the price of the Status 2 product. They refused, saying that after 5 months of trying to use it, I didn't qualify for any refund. Seems to be nothing I can except warn others not to pay for any version of Msgtag.

  Many e-mail clients don't show HTML messages, therefore a receipt is not sent. But this is not MSGTAG's fault.

  Pros

  Email tracking is useful ... if it only worked *all* the time! Friendly email-based support usually within 36-hrs and it has a good feature set, but we found the latest paid version (Status2.7) fails to track about 75% of the time. Moreover, it's sporadic - sometimes it will record a receipt, sometimes it won't (from the same email address).

  Cons

  Sporadic tracking results. Can't select specific email to be tracked (selective tracking) without turning off/on each time. No overvue showing email sent, opened/not opened. Emailed read receipts - even on the few emails it successfully tracks - gets cumbersome to handle if you send a lot of email. No way to keep a log for future reference.
