Seems to function. The interface is simple. It is able to deal with some complexity though not all. It's abstract enough not to get in your business as long as you follow the Lua language specifications.
Some advanced programming may not work as expected. it's not going to hold your hand for really dumb concepts. You should work with the Lua manual anyway.
If you're cheap and you at least try and work with Lua for things like Garrysmod, it can be useful. It doesn't crash randomly if that's something.
