Pros
Looks good, I was excited first time I used it...revealed much-needed video data
Cons
After first time didn't show any video data
Summary
Disappointed in what at first appeared to be exactly what I needed. [The name sure did put me off, though]

Pros
Yes, it is for those who know what it is for. Very complete detail for my novice needs.
Cons
No magic here, just easily accessible information on the file in question. Yes, you have to figure out what the info means and then what to do. I think this program helps me, a media neophyte, understand the goings on behind the curtain.
Summary
Haven't found any magic out there yet, but this program sure helps me understand and compare files and begin to get the basic gist of things.

Pros
Absolutely None!
Cons
On download attempt, my computer went berserk!
Summary
I have never seen my 4 year old Dell computer behave in such a manner as when I attempted to download this ah so-called program.
I have no idea what happened, but I know after I downloaded the program to my desktop and clicked the icon to open and download the program into my computer, my non-default browser, IE began to open and close, it opened again and closed again and again and again and so on and so forth until some no longer closed. Not to mention the constant color change to black and white.
It was so bad at one point I had at least 8 thumbnails of IE, all in black and white and I could not close any of them. And more IEs continued to open and close.
Finally I resorted to Task Manager. Task Manager could not end the download of Gspot, and the IEs were opening and closing so fast that as soon I attempted to click one link in Task Manager, it closed and another opened in another spot. I also tried to X them close but again as fast as one IE closed another opened.
Finally I employed clt, alt and delete and shut down the computer. It was truly scary since I did not know what damage had been done to my computer.
I restarted my computer after a few minutes and although it took longer than usual, it booted up. At this writing everything appear normal but I have yet to see how my computer responds under regular use.
As I mentioned above, I do not know what happened but I will not be downloading this program again. I should have been suspicious when I read this program was lasted updated in 2007!.

Simple: the download file is zipped, and you tried to open it with IE instead of unzipping it first. This behavior is normal, and the chaos can be stopped by clicking start>log off, then logging back in.
You need to examine what type of file you're trying to open so the apt program can be selected to open it.
Pros
Free;
Portable, so no need to install.
Cons
Help pages are a bit geeky, poor explanations, and have not been updated to the latest version.
Summary
I just needed to know what codec was used to process a movie clip, and this did the job. there's a load of other stuff but the help page is just so badly written that I had trouble staying awake. Had this been better I'd have given it more stars.

Pros
I haven't a clue
Cons
I haven't a clue
Summary
This is a very clever pgm, so clever that, until I got the TechTracker notice that it needed updating.I wasn't even aware that I had it on board.
As soon as I was aware of it, I had to find it pdq because it gave the impression of being some pornographic pgm - "GSpot", how ludicrously misnamed!
Anyway, where it came from in the first place I don't know, especially since I seem to have had it from sometime in 2007. How has it remained so successfully hidden ever since? And you can't find it under GSpot, oh no: it's under ACE Mega CoDecS Pack, as a Search soon ascertained.
I haven't used it yet, so I haven't a clue what to expect from it. All I am aware of is that news videos are interminably slow, with frequent stops whilst the next bit of info is being downloaded. And for a repeat, the system is so magnificently clever that, oh no, the video doesn't remember that it's already been downloaded, but it starts form the beginning again, with all the stops.
So, at the moment, I am not impressed. By clicking on three stars I'm merely being fashionable.

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. Your experience matches mine, in this instance. Since I have never used (or apparently needed) this program since 2007, it obviously is not needed by me. Apparently it was "sneakware" (similar to the way the ASK search facility gets on your computer) and was downloaded under the cloak of a downloading some program I actually wanted. Annoying!

I believe this is part of the Windows Media Player codec pack...or named something along those lines. If you downloaded a program with a similar name, that is probably where this came from.
