Although this program lets you virtually explore Mars, we don't really think of it as a game in the traditional sense of the word. The application gives you a first-person view of the Martian landscape and lets you explore it via your keyboard's arrow buttons. When you approach a landmark such as a crater, the program displays a small map and some basic information. We have no complaints about the graphical representation of the red planet, although some sound effects would have been a nice touch. Still, we thought 3D Mars Spirit Rover Simulator provides only a limited amount of entertainment, as simply exploring the very similar landscape grows tiresome after a while. Some degree of user customization might help spice up future versions of this program. Nevertheless, science and astronomy buffs might enjoy 3D Mars Spirit Rover Simulator, especially since it's free.

Lol....if your like me, you just ignored the other guys opinion and downloaded it anyway! <p>But! he is absoluetly right, no good graphics, just a couple of hills and small rocks, no sound AT ALL!, one view, which you can't even see the rover!, and "interesting facts" pop up every now and then to tell you about the rover, like we even care, but you can download it just to see what i mean, you'll laugh!

It's not a game. Scientists wouldn't even use this, it's too unrealistic or too lame. Not worth the time esp. on 56K. Graphics are awful even for 3 years ago, can't do much either.
