Print and file IRS forms 1095-B and 1095-C.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires employers (those with 50 or more full-time employees) to report health coverage to each employee as well as to the IRS. This is done using IRS Form 1095-C (and its respective 1094-C transmittal summary)

Health insurance issuers are required to report whether individuals have the minimum essential coverage necessary to comply with the ACA individual mandate. Health insurance issuers complete IRS Form 1095-B (and its respective 1094-B transmittal summary)

The new ACA forms are mandatory this January, 2016. You must print and mail a copy to each employee by the end of January, paper file by the end of February or electronically file by the end of March. You can easily go online and file a 1-month extension giving issuers until the end of April to file electronically.

ACA information returns are subject to Regulation 301.6011-2, which requires filers of 250 or more of any one type of information return to file electronically.

When you print, you have the option to print with social security masking as well as printing on both sides of a sheet of paper (if your printer has this capability). This means you can print Form 1095-B or 1095-C and then the mailing addresses on the back of the respective form. You can tri-fold and stuff in any #10 size, 2-window envelope. You can bi-fold and stuff in larger 2-window envelopes but the #10 size envelopes are the most cost effective.

To efile, the software creates 2 files; one the manifest file in XML format which summarizes everything you are about the efile. The manifest file lets the IRS know the tax year, whether your file is an original, correction, or replacement, transmitter and vendor contact information and more. The 1094/1095 data file is your actual form data in an XML format that the IRS wants. You log into the IRS website and upload both files and should receive a Receipt ID and status within 2-3 days after submitting.
