I had used a Driver update program. Caused issues with my Sound Card Driver. After went to GEFORCE.com and ran install from there, everything works great !!

It works and it was free. Other google hits wanted me to sign-up and pay for a download. They can take a hike!
BTW... eMachine really is secretive about their systems. Loading Ubuntu helped me discover the MB type and the chipsets on the MB.Cons
none, Just that a purchase of an eMachine system is a mistake. They let you know nothing about the system so they can lock you in to a support contract. THUMBS DOWN!
Summary
A friend of mine had an eMachine E11161-07 preloaded with Vista. I burnt Vista and put XP on it. I found all the drivers I needed except for the sound driver. Searching hi & low, I couldn't find it. Some sites wanted me to join and pay for a download. Then I found a google hit referencing CNET. I downloaded it and it worked with the on-board sound chips. Hooray CNET & hooray Ubuntu Linux.
