Wise JetSearch is a speedy alternative to the built-in Windows search tool that can search for files and folders in a variety of locations. We think it's a great choice for anyone who's looking for an alternative to the built-in Windows option.

Wise JetSearch has an attractive and very simple interface. A drop-down menu reveals a series of check boxes from which you select the drives you want to search. There's a field where you enter your search terms, including file extensions and wild cards. Click the search button, and Wise JetSearch will scan the selected locations and return its results in a matter of seconds. When not in use, Wise JetSearch appears as a thin blue rectangle at the top of the screen; mouse over it and it expands to a search box, only bringing up the full interface once you've run a search.

Wise JetSearch has little in the way of documentation, and users who aren't familiar with the use of wild cards and other search strategies would do well to look for a little more information elsewhere. Overall, though, Wise JetSearch is incredibly easy for just about anyone to use. It's worth a try if you need a search tool that's nimbler (and more attractive) than Windows provides.

Pros
Windows search compared to Wise is akin to comparing a Model T to a Super Bee hemi. It is just plain fast AND if you've deleted, say, a program, this will still show you leftover traces that ANY uninstaller has left, including 'roaming' hidden files, etc, and them it will delete those files right from it's context menu! It is excellent!

None at all. ;)
Summary
It's a shame MS isn't making any attempts to integrate software like this for their OS'. But then again, I'm glad they don't as they'd become "par for" plug ins as bad as MS has become! Everyone should get this especially if you try out and then delete a lot of software as I do. Invaluable.

It is a fantastic search free utility and worth to use.I can't find a video in a folder, then install this program and run it. Oh my god, it runs so fast and search out my video and I will still use it.
Seems to search well for me, could use some fixes.

Pros
Fast searches, includes external USB drives, finds folder names as well as file names. I haven't seen the pop-ups noted by others.
Cons
1. The program's installer does not allow setup for access by Windows Limited user accounts, so only user accounts with Administrator privileges can run it. It will display the GUI in Limited accounts, but will not search. 2. At least in XP, the vertical scroll bar in the drop-down menu for selecting which hard drives to search malfunctions when there are too many partitions or drives to display: eg: with 11 partitions/drives the menu first only lists up to 8 drive letters, and then when scrolled down with the mouse it shows the remainder but will snap back up when the mouse button is released, making it impossible to check or uncheck the last 1 or 2. 3. By default all drive letters are initially selected for searching, so if you only wish to search a few you have to go through the list and uncheck all the others. Sometimes on restart it remembers what drives you last checked, sometimes not.
Summary
Simple to use and fast. Suggestions in the forum are read by the owners but sometimes misunderstood. I hope they will continue to refine it.
