Though this application has plenty of features to help you prepare for your wedding, The Wedding Assistant is not the most intuitive or easy-to-use application we've seen. The familiar-looking calendar and the friendly colors of the interface are soothing. After you add guest entries, you can invite the guests to functions such as the traditional ladies-only bachelorette party or the family's rehearsal dinner. User-definable groups provide a quick way to assemble a guest list for these side events. However, we struggled with the Guest section of the program, the most critical database a bride- or groom-to-be must manage. The setup wizard can be more confusing than helpful, asking for information without always telling you how it's used (where does the "informal family name" appear?). Creating the guest database involves many steps, and the program's awkward explanatory text doesn't help matters very much. If you're a database wizard, you might be comfortable with The Wedding Assistant. Many couples, though, will prefer a simpler tool to cut down the stress of planning their big day.
