This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. This software is beyond buggy - it's absolutely insane. First off, I downloaded it against my better judgement, given the reviews here. The disk image decompressed, and the installer launched. Went through all the usual rigamarole about licensing, etc., and then the installer went to work and installed WebDrive. Or so I thought. Immediately upon launching, WebDrive crashed. Relaunch, crash again. Reset preferences and relaunch, crash AGAIN. WTF? By now, I'm getting pretty fed up, so I click "Submit Report". In the report, I find this: Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x000000008fe0105c Crashed Thread: 0 Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/MacFUSE.framework/Versions/A/MacFUSE Referenced from: /Applications/WebDrive.app/Contents/MacOS/WebDrive Reason: image not found Okay...it seems that MacFUSE isn't installed. This makes me wonder what the hell the installer was doing when it installed WebDrive - why wouldn't you also install a framework required to make your program work when you were installing the program? I'm a little pissed off at this point, but I go download and install the latest version of MacFUSE, and reboot. I would say, "Success!", but it was anything but. Yes, MacDrive launched - and then promptly informed me that I had 0 days remaining on my trial period, locking me out of even trying the software. Having never installed or trialed MacDrive before this point, this was the icing on the cake. Drag to trash, and empty. So long, thanks for playing. Stay away - stay far, far away.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com. I'm running SL 10.6.1 on a Mac Mini 2.26. I tried this and after setting up my FTP site on a web drive, I selected "mount" from the options and got a message "successfully mounted." However, that was the dying gasp of my system as the entire Mac froze. No Finder, no Safari, couldn't force quit, nothing except to hold the power button in for several seconds. Tried again, same result. I went and downloaded AutomountMaker as another commenter suggested and it does indeed work fine in SL. Easy to set up, no need for the app to run (Webdrive requires you to select a drive from within the app), it just creates a script that mounts the drive. I've got the script in my Finder side bar and clicking simply mounts my remote servers. Slicker than ice in the Antarctic. Aside: My only gripe about AutomountMaker is that it always comes up in icon mode rather than list mode but that's a real small nitpick. Another choice is Expandrive (listed here on VT) but it runs $40.
