CNET Editors' review
Sifting through the dozens of hot spots available sucks up valuable time that you could be using to work. WeFi will connect to open hot spots for you. It doesn't add much to the options already on Windows, but it is a very neat program to look at.
From the looks of it, this program seems like it's trying to be a Foursquare for Wi-Fi. It lays out hot spots on a map and gives you the opportunity to review and connect automatically to them. However, it doesn't do the best job of locating your computer on GPS. Plus, there aren't many businesses that actually use the program. You'll be lucky to find one or two WeFi businesses nearby. That doesn't mean it's a bad program, though. It has a very pleasing layout and will find non-WeFi-approved hot spots that you can connect on. You can do that without downloading the program, though. That and the random Facebook sign-in the program encourages make it seem a little pointless.
WeFi doesn't bring any exciting features or exclusive content to the table. If you want to connect to a handful of hot spots automatically or you frequent some businesses that use the program, it's worth downloading. Otherwise, there's not much here to be excited about.

"Tries to install a .EXE when you're uninstalling it!!!!"
Version: WeFi 4.0.1.0
Pros
NONE!!! this program DEMANDS you login with your Facebook account. If you don't have one they DEMAND create a Facebook account and only THEN can you create a WeFi account and use this program. I promptly went to my control panel to uninstall and my antivirus software kept popping up for my permission. I noticed it was requesting "permission" to install a .exe - executable program!!! Pretty slick, it tried x2 and I told my antivirus program to block it and it uninstalled it.I am now running a complete scan of my computer!
Cons
Avoid like the PLAQUE!!!!! It demands you give then access to your Facebook login BEFORE you can even use this service. Diabolical. Then if you try to unistall it trys to run a executable .exe program.
Will no longer download ANYTHING from CNET.If you notice they no longer have the disclaimer that the download is free from viruses and malware!
BEWARED if you download or try to uninstall this program to run a FULL SYSTEM SCAN for what it installed AFTER you removed itSummary
Now more CNET downloads for me. They no longer post that their downloads are guaranteed free of malware or virus.

"This is malware that copies itself when you uninstall."
Version: WeFi 4.0.1.0
Pros
None I have discovered.
Cons
When I learned that We Fi was of no use to me I attempted to uninstall with Revo Uninstaller only to get a pop up warning me that the app was copying itself and moving to other parts of my laptop. After tracking down the root file and trying to delete it manually I received a Windows pop up warning me that We Fi was working with other parts of my OS and removing it might cause severe damage. Further, when logging on We Fi demands my password before I can access my desktop. I don't really know what malware sort of evils it might be performing.

"Installed but then removed it."
Version: WeFi 4.0.1.0
Pros
Easy to install and it in itself worked well.
Cons
Conflict with Google Chrome. Couldn't go to full page. Couldn't use the tab bar like I normally do (sliding a bookmark to the link page didn't work at all).
I know this was the problem because Google worked properly when I removed it. -
"It's crap. You neet to be a fan of social networks."
Version: WeFi 4.0.1.0
Pros
There are no Pros... this is bogus crap.
Cons
In order for it to function you need to create a Facebook account. I've had more issues with FB. I'm not going there just to get a download.
Summary
I'm very upset with Cnet for playing along with thier game.

"Great for identifying and connecting to wi-fi hotspots"
Version: WeFi 4.0.1.0
Pros
This is especially good at linking to hotspots where web sign-on is required for access. We-fi will launch the browser to complete this. I use this both on my netbook and android phone.
Cons
There are no cons.
Summary
This is one of the best free applications for computers and androids. I use it all the time.
