keeps track of the state of my battery and the necessity of conditioning so i don't have to; walks me through the process when it's time.
Cons
i don't think Growl is the most suitable form of notification for this particular application; something persistent would be better than something that basically flashes once on my screen and goes away; app could be more assertive all around.

i'm glad Watts exists; i've bought it and will use it. i just think i'd like it to be more assertive than it is; i don't know from experience, only having downloaded Watts a few nights ago, but i feel like it'll be way too easy for me to miss Growl notifications. i think that for an important process like this, the app should offer persistent alert windows. it offers one for notification that you've run your battery down to X percent, but that's it - what happens if i don't see the Growl notification that it's time to condition? will it show it again at intervals or something? or am i going to have to keep opening Watts to see if i've missed a Growl notification and it's actually time to condition my battery? i have to repeatedly open Watts manually to see what stage of the conditioning process i'm at too, and what i need to do next. i think it would be nice if once you started the conditioning process, Watts would present itself at each stage, rather than making you have to go call it up. i also would like the previous and next steps to be easier to read than they are; as it is they're grayed out and can really only be read be looking at them straight-on - i have to move around and tilt my screen so i can read them, which is a nuisance. so, bottom line is that i think the app could be much better-designed, but i'm just very glad it was designed at all.

At $6.95 it's a must have. I believe a new battery is around $129.00 from Apple so if this app extends the life of your batter even a month or two it's well worth the few bucks and any little effort.

Schedule and manage battery calibrations for MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

Intuitive battery calibration process. Watts takes care of the scheduling of the battery calibration process. Once the calibration is needed (every few weeks, the time between calibrations can be configured by the user), Growl notifications will inform you about the next step to do. Watts strictly follows Apple battery calibration recommended process. At any time when the calibration is needed, go to the Calibration tab and check the status of the step: action to do, how long will it take, if the charger must be plugged or unplugged, and if MacBook can be used or not. When finished, Watts will also log the calibration date, and it will schedule the next one automatically.

When the calibration is not needed, Watts does not show Growl notifications for the steps. You can do a calibration if desired, just follow the step shown in the Calibration tab. Integration in the menubar. Watts runs in the menubar. It provides the same basic information as Mac OS X battery status icon, plus more useful and advanced information. Keep all your battery information at hand. Battery information. Check your battery charge and your battery capacity. Log your batery capacity at any moment, to keep a history record. You can also see if the status of your battery is according Apple lifespan guarantee.

Enable useful Growl battery notifications. You can enable Growl notifications for several battery related events. For example, when the power cord is plugged or unplugged. Another useful notification that will keep your battery in perfect shape: when you have worked for more than 36 hours (configurable value) with the charger connected, Watts will remind you to unplug it and work with battery power. Batteries like to have the electrons moving around.
